I began this organization because I saw an unfulfilled need in Las Vegas: In my own search, I couldn’t find a group committed to Advaita Vedanta that wasn’t also foregrounding the apparatus of Indian culture. I love Indian culture, but I wanted something that was focused on self-enquiry and “inner” exploration without simultaneous emphasis on Eastern rituals and patterns of worship. That said, I love and respect the paths that others are on; as Ramakrishna said, “God has made different religions to suit different aspirants, times, and countries. All doctrines are only so many paths[…]One may eat a cake with icing either straight or sidewise. It will taste sweet either way.”
If the above resonates with you, I invite you to join us. The hope is we can inform your spiritual journey as you inform ours. One could say that the founding of the Advaita Vedanta Center of Las Vegas is part of my own spiritual journey, that this enterprise—while not a final destination—sits at a mile marker some distance from where my spiritual journey began so many years ago.
